A Place In The Sun..

This is a tribute to Stevie Wonder. This song is all about Hope and how it never gives you the feeling that all is done.
I've added a few verses to his song,A Place In The Sun.

Like a long lonely stream,
I keep running towards a dream.
Moving on,Moving on..
Like a branch of a tree,
I keep reaching to be free.
Moving on,Moving on..

'Cause there's a place in the sun,
Where there's hope for everyone..
Where my restless heart's gotta run,
There's a place in the sun.
And before my life is done,
Got to find my place in the sun..

Like an old,dusty road,
I get weary from the the load.
Moving on,Moving on..
Like this tired troubled Earth,
I've been rolling since my birth.
Moving on,Moving on..

Like a withered,tired man,
I've fulfilled all the duties of my clan.
Moving on,Moving on..
Like a wilted,dying flower,
I can feel my strength draining every hour.
Moving on,Moving on..

'Cause there's a place in the sun,
Where there's hope for everyone..
Where my restless heart's gotta run,
There's a place in the sun.
And before my life is done,
Got to find my place in the sun..
You know, that when times are bad,
And you're feeling sad,
I want you to always remember,
Yes,there's a place in the sun,
Where there's hope for everyone..
Where my restless heart's gotta run,
There's a place in the sun.

Pulling Away...

And I turn, and start walking away,
Endless thoughts, racing in my mind,
My heart, swelling up with emotion,
Eyes, brimming with tears.

I keep walking, not knowing where I’m headed,
Lightening, ripping the sky apart.
Thunder, roaring.
Rain, pouring.

I stop, and look back,
You’re gone too...
I stand there, under the rain,
Feeling the coolness of the droplets.
Hoping, that the rain will wash away, the pain, the agony, and everything that has happened.
That the wind, will take me away with it.

Away, to a place where there can be a new beginning,
To a place where the wounds will heal,
And the scars will fade…

Somewhere along that street, you’ve stopped as well.
You too, are standing under the rain.
Wondering what went wrong…
Wondering when things started to fall apart,
And why you weren’t there to fix them.

After all, you’ve always been able to fix everything.

You stand there, under the rain,
Your tears, mixing with the droplets on your cheeks.
You stand there, under the rain,
Your mind, seems to recollect only the moments we spent together…

How long can we march on a parallel set of lines,
Before we miss the chance of intersecting each other’s life at all?

An Ode To A Daughter...

It all starts with a cry…
A cry of joy.
The joy of a new beginning…
The beginning of a new life.

She opens her eyes, lets out a laugh.
It’s the cutest sound you’ve ever heard,
You don’t ever want to let go…

As a father,you wanted a son,
Who would come to games with you, wrestle with you
But now as you stand with her in your arms…
It’s like a dream come true.

You give her a name,
Tuzuk it is.
Its one name which means the world to you…

From a toothless bundle of joy,
She becomes a mischievous toddler,
True to her name, always up to something…

It amazes you how fast time can pass,
When you want it to freeze,
To freeze with the most beautiful soul ever…

Time passes,she blossoms…
You turn the whole city upside-down,
To find the best playschool for her.
Off she goes to ‘little hearts’,
To leave her indelible mark…
Those three hours of the day,
Never once did your anxiety let you relax your brow.

Time passes,she blossoms…
Its time to go to school now,
You find a school which will help her grow,
Help her grow to be just like her mother…

Birthdays come and birthdays go…
She’s finally thirteen,
Her excitement knows no bounds,
With happiness she preens…

P.T.Ms come and P.T.Ms go…
Not one complain against her,
With scores of A,her report card shines,
And you,the father,beam with pride.

Just the last father’s day,
She served you breakfast,
It was the tastiest meal you’d ever had…
She gave you a card,
A card that said ‘my daddy #1!’
You won’t ever forget that in your heart, she’s #1 too…

Time passes,she blossoms…
She’s now in her twenties,
You realize,as she’s growing up,
You’re growing old…

You sit down with her albums,
Cherishing those moments,
Reflecting all the time you’ve spent with her,
All the fun you’ve had together…

Yes you had your ups and downs,
But that just brought you closer.
Yes you’ve had you share of tiffs,
But that just showed that she had an opinion.
An opinion of her own…

Time passes,she blossoms…
She’s finally done with her studies,
She’s an architect now.
Maybe you know your next father’s day gift…

Meetings are held,horoscopes are matched,
Wedding bells are nearing…

Slowly you realize, how little time you have,
When you’ll have her only to yourself…
You decide that each moment you have together,
Will be the most amazing one…

Months turn into weeks,
Weeks into days,
Finally it is d-day.
It is the day you are giving her hand in his,
The best man you could find for her…

When you see her in her wedding gown,
Looking prettier than ever…
You bite your lip and smile,
She comes up to you, her eyes moist too
And gives you a kiss on the cheek…

There you are, her best man,
The best man you could ever be…
You walk her down the aisle,
You hand her to her groom-to-be,
And slowly walk back.

You have a flashback,
A flashback of all her life.
From the very moment she was born,
To this day in her make-up room, when she kissed you good-bye…
